Tamara Obrovac - 10 years at the Istrian National Theatre
The anniversary concert of Tamara Obrovac in her hometown will celebrate multiple jubilees; Obrovac's tenth consecutive traditional annual concert at the Istrian National Theatre in Pula, the release of her tenth CD and 20 years from the release of her first recording; her first CD "Triade" was released in 1996 and the tenth, "Canto Amoroso" which was released in 2015 in a limited Croatian edition only, will be released by the Austrian Alessa Records in 2016.
Since 2007 24 eminent musicians from 9 countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Ireland, Armenia, Austria, Morocco/France, USA and the Czech Republic) have joined Tamara on her concerts at the Istrian National Theatre, in whose company Tamara always presented to her fellow citizens new and interesting cooperation projects, taking the audience to different musical worlds, presenting to them palettes of sounds, emotions, improvisations, humour and "the unbearable lightness of musicianship."
This tenth anniversary concert will be held with her Transhistria ensemble that accompanied her in 2007 at the very beginning of this cycle of traditional annual Valentine's Day concerts, she will also be joined by some of the musicians with whom she collaborated during the past 10 years, while the repertoire will consist of a selection of songs that she performed in various music formations during her previous concerts at the Istrian National Theatre in Pula.
A few words by Tamara Obrovac:
"I believe that during these ten years we have shown that we can organise with our "local forces" a high quality concert event and thereby contribute to the cultural life of the city in the winter. It is for this reason that, in addition to all the wonderful musicians that took part in the concerts, I want to thank those that contributed to this decade long tradition, the City of Pula, the Tourist Board of the City of Pula and Ministry of Culture for their co-financing of the project, the staff of the Istrian National Theatre for the logistics, the sound engineer Aldo Spada for a great sound, Davor Dujmović for the sound system equipment and, of course, to the loyal audience of my home town.
As the Istrians would say: "May we repeat this next year! Cheers!"
